Hardy walleye are post-spawn and finding the creek channels. Trolling the edges of the old river channel in 12–18 ft has been producing consistent fish in the 16–20 inch range, with the occasional 24-inch class fish.

Crankbaits worked at 1.8–2.2 mph are the simplest pattern. Run two or three rods off planer boards and one straight down the middle of the channel. The fish are scattered but they are eating.

Eyes have not committed to a single depth yet — they are roaming. Use sonar to mark them and adjust trolling depth accordingly. Once you find a productive contour, work back and forth on it.

The pond is finally settled after the spring drawdown. Stumps are at normal level — watch your prop.
