Indian is the place to be for bluegills this week. Water hit 68°F over the weekend and the spawn is wide open. Colonies of beds visible in 3–5 ft on the south basin sand flats.
Bring polarized glasses. Once you find a colony you can spend an hour on it. Drop a small jig tipped with wax worm or crawler chunk straight down into the bed and the male will eat it on the first or second drop.
Quality is what Indian is known for — 8–10 inch fish are the average and 11-inchers are not rare. A handful of state-record-class fish come out of this lake each year. Handle them carefully and release the big males back to their beds.
Bait shop carries crawlers and waxies fresh daily — call ahead on a heavy weekend to make sure we have enough on hand.
