Klinger Bluegills Starting to Pop

Klinger bluegills are right at the edge. Water is at 63°F and the fish are staged on the 4–6 ft contours next to the spawning bays. Another 3–5 degrees and the spawn is on.

Right now the bite is consistent if not spectacular. Worm under a bobber is the simple, productive approach. Fish are quality — 7–9 inches with a few 9+ inchers each trip.

Pay attention to wind direction. The northwest corner has been most productive on south winds — wind blowing into a spawning bay pushes warm surface water in and concentrates fish.

Get out before the weekend — pressure ramps quickly on Klinger once the spawn pops.
